Wine of the Week: 2020 Domaine Paul Buisse Touraine Sauvignon Blanc

France’s Loire Valley has half a dozen appellations for sauvignon blanc, with the best-known being Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. But the Touraine appellation – which also produces some reds – offers perhaps the best values in sauvignon blancs, with most priced under $20.

This Touraine sauvignon blanc from Domaine Paul Buisse is an excellent example of those great values. It’s fresh, fragrant and expressive, with flavors of grapefruit, passionfruit and a hint of grassiness. It has a very pure character and costs just $13.

The wine, by the way, was part of a tasting kit from Master the World, a company that sells curated collections of six 187ml bottles for blind tasting. My kit was part of a webinar on dry whites from the Loire, but you can check out the selections for yourself by clicking here.
