Wine of the Week: 2025 Kirkland Signature Côtes de Provence Rosé

Much of the country has been suffering under successive heat waves this summer. A crisp rosé won’t solve all your problems, but it can make the heat a little more tolerable.

You may have noticed that some rosés are getting pretty pricey. A few are worth the cost, but you can find plenty of pink pleasure in bottles that are considerably cheaper. Exhibit A: this Côtes de Provence rosé from Costco, under its Kirkland Signature label.

The wine, which sells for around $9, offers pretty raspberry and watermelon fruit and a note of rose petals. But it’s not just a simple, fruity wine. It offers some structure and oomph, making it a fine aperitif as well as a wine that will stand up to a light meal. The blend is dominated by grenache and cinsault, according to the back label.

The origins of some Kirkland wines are kept a mystery, but this one includes the name of the winemaker on the back label: Olivier Sumeire, an eighth-generation grape grower and vintner whose family company is Famille Sumeire.
