Wine of the Week: 2015 Graham Beck Blanc de Blancs Brut

I won’t be toasting my San Francisco Giants at the World Series this year, but I’ll still lift a glass of this South African bubbly in recognition of their great season. South Africans call their traditional-method sparkling wine Méthode Cap Classique, and Graham Beck is one of its best-known producers. This blanc de blancs is made from chardonnay, and it’s fresh and a little yeasty, with flavors of brioche, apple and lemon. A delicious wine for $30.

If you can’t find the blanc de blancs, Graham Beck also makes a less expensive non-vintage brut rosé (59 percent pinot noir, 41 percent chardonnay) that’s fruitier, with some creaminess. It’s a great value for $20.
