Wine of the Week: 2016 Olema Pinot Noir

Olema is a Sonoma County-focused brand created by the people behind Amici Cellars in Calistoga. The wines – pinot noir, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon – are phenomenal values. And that’s particularly true of this pinot, which costs just $20.

If you’ve tried a lot of inexpensive pinots, you know if can be hard to find one in this price range that even tastes like pinot noir. But this one is exemplary: It’s structured yet supple, with dark berry fruit, baking spice and a savory forest floor note. The 2016 is a new release; some stores may be selling the 2015, but it’s good, too.
