Wine of the Week: 2020 Yalumba Y Series Shiraz Viognier

A lot of us will be firing up the grill this Labor Day weekend and grilling a hearty piece of meat (or chicken or vegetables – you get the idea). This South Australian red would be a great accompaniment.

The label says shiraz viognier, but the blend is 98 percent shiraz, with just a dash of viognier. The wine offers spicy, roasted black fruit flavors, with notes of white pepper and smoked meat. Medium tannins provide enough structure to pair with food, but the wine is also easy to drink.

All the wines in Yalumba’s Y Series are affordably priced; this one is $15.
