Wine of the Week: 2019 Tablas Creek Côtes de Tablas

In honor of Grenache Day (Sept. 17 this year), here’s a red blend in which grenache leads the way. The wine, from the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, is structured yet accessible, with bright, spicy red berry fruit, accented by the wild herb overtones that the French call garrigue.

It’s a blend of 44 percent grenache, 30 percent syrah, 17 percent counoise and 9 percent mourvèdre, all from Tablas Creek’s estate vineyards, which are certified organic and Biodynamic.

So throw a piece of meat (or chicken or some mushrooms) on the grill, and pull the cork on this or some other bottle of juicy grenache. (This one would also cellar well for future Grenache Days.)
